CCI announces new executive director

The National Cotton Council of America has announced that Liz Hershfield will be the new executive director of its export promotion arm, Cotton Council International (CCI). She succeeds Bruce Atherley in the role; Mr Atherley retired at the end of March.
Chief executive of the National Cotton Council, Gary Adams, said he was confident Ms Hershfield would enhance programmes already in place to promote the Cotton USA brand and give US cotton growers “more opportunities to thrive in the complex global market”.
The new CCI executive director brings long-term expertise in sustainability, global sourcing, product development and end-to-end supply chain strategy to the role. She has held senior sustainability and supply chain roles at brands including J.Crew, Madewell and Gap.
On taking up her new role, Ms Hershfield said: “There has never been a more important time to champion US cotton. It has an incredible story to tell, rooted in quality, innovation and an unwavering commitment to sustainability, underscored by trust earned through reliable partnerships.”
