New H&M-backed circular coalition launches in Turkey
Through its Global Circular Fashion Forum (GCFF), Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) has launched a recycling initiative in Turkey focusing on post-industrial waste. Officially announced at Istanbul’s Sustainability Talks, the collaborative project is led by Rematters, a textile recycling engineering and consultancy firm headed by Romain Narcy, also of Ereks-Blue Matters. Other partners include Reverse Resources, a textile waste SaaS platform, consultancy Closed Loop Fashion, and Amsterdam-based Circle Economy Foundation. Funding for the project is provided by the H&M Foundation.

The project is set to launch in 2026 and GFA is currently reaching out to brands to join. An important apparel manufacturing country, Turkey is a good place to scale up textile-to-textile recycling, said GFA.

The GCFF has already set up similar projects in Bangladesh, Cambodia and Indonesia. It claims to have already digitally traced some 21,000 tonnes of textile waste and connected 100 factories and 20 global brands with potential recycling partners.
