Natural dye innovator ready to try again
After three years of research and development, Minority Denim, a small start-up based in Famalicão in northern Portugal, hoped to make an impression on the market with a new dyeing method at the start of 2020.
Having been held back for months by covid-19, the company has now said it hopes to make a fresh start with its new system, Bio Tint.
The company uses waste from the food industry, including coffee grounds and onion skins, along with eucalyptus leaves and wood residue to dye fabric.
In recent comments to local media, founder, Diogo Aguiar, said the company had received good initial feedback and was preparing to expand its range of colours when the pandemic hit and forced its progress to “soften”.
