Burberry’s Arthur sneaker gets denim makeover
First unveiled during British luxury goods brand Burberry’s autumn-winter 2019 runway presentation, the chunky, streetwear-influenced Arthur sneaker recently received a denim makeover under the creative directorship of designer Riccardo Tisci.

The indigo-inspired iteration of the Arthur (pictured) features the brand’s “TB” (the initials of founder Thomas Burberry) all-over monogram in denim on the top half of the upper. A matte black rubberised toebox and mudguard acts as an overshoe (inspired by rainboots and sailors’ galoshes) on the bottom half.

Made in Italy, the shoes’ urban influences extend to the throat and fabric eyestays, which have been coated in strips of hi-vis reflective material.

A rubberised red and white Burberry badge on the tongue furthers the footwear’s logomania design, as does spell-out white Burberry text on the heel and the outsoles’ own “TB” monogram, intended to enhance the shoes’ traction in a stylised fashion.
