C&A releases first jeans made in Germany

The first jeans made in C&A’s new industry 4.0 factory in Monchengladbach, Germany, are being released online this week.
The new facility, C&A FIT, for Factory for Innovation in Textiles, features equipment supplied by European companies, including advanced machinery maker Sip Italy’s Factor-Hit concept. Ozone, laser and nebulisation processes help reduce water usage. The retailer says its facility brings down water consumption per item from an industry average of 70 litres to only 10 litres.
As part of the group’s ambition to achieve zero carbon emissions from its locally made products, fabric and supplies are also sourced in Europe. The denim fabric is made by Candiani in Italy form GOTS or OCS certified organic cotton.
The first drop, called “Forever Denim”, includes six styles, three for men and three for women (sold €59.99), in three different washes.
The second drop, scheduled for August 2022, will include more styles and colours and will be available both in stores and online.
