The Lycra Company's smart stretch solutions
The Lycra Company highlights two new innovative stretch solutions at Kingpins’ show in Amsterdam.

The company’s Lycra Dual Comfort technology, first introduced last February, gives fabrics a combination of three properties: comfort stretch, a cooling effect and long-lasting shape retention. These are the result of a non-elastane yarn, Lycra T400A EcoMade, which endows fabrics with an elasticity spanning 25 to 40%, and includes both recycled and renewable content.

Lycra Adaptiv is designed for high stretch products and is based on a patent-pending polymer and chemistry that makes the fibre adjust to need. It adapts its compressive holding force to deliver the right fit, shape and control when a wearer is at rest. When a wearer is in motion, it automatically adjusts its elasticity to provide more comfort and has ‘a second-skin effect’ that makes the garment stay in place, the company said. This allows a given size of jeans made with Lycra Adaptiv to fit a wider array of body shapes.

As the array of specialty yarns increases, The Lycra Company is introducing a new consumer-facing umbrella brand, Xtra Life Lycra, which will cover the innovations mentioned above along with other specially engineered yarns such as Lycra DualFX, Lycra Ecomade, etc.

Ebru Ozaydin, The Lycra Company’s strategic marketing director for denim and ready-to-wear commented: “Lycra brand fibres have played an instrumental role in many denim trends consumers have come to love. As denim fashion continues to evolve, our team innovates solutions that will help jeans deliver the performance, fit and strength consumers need to match their lifestyles.”
