The Lycra Company introduces new stretch solution for denim
Bluezone is the showcase for The Lycra Company’s newest fibre technology for denims: Lycra Dual Comfort. First launched in ready-to-wear earlier this year, it combines comfort stretch and a cooling effect, and is now being rolled out for the denim industry. Lycra Dual Comfort draws its properties on the presence of Lycra T400 A EcoMade fibre, which contains both recycled and renewable content, and Coolmax. This combination, the company said, creates fabrics that are more resilient than equivalent fabrics made in pure cotton. Garments made with the Dual Comfort technology can also be branded Lycra XTRA Life and qualify for Coolmax branding, the company pointed out.

“Denim is our reliable companion all-day long – for work, leisure and after work. With Lycra Dual Comfort technology, we now can have jeans made from sustainable fabrics that provide the freedom to move, with cooling comfort and moisture wicking properties - wherever we go, whatever we do,” commented Silvia Toledo, strategic account manager for The Lycra Company.

Lycra Adaptiv is also on show at the company’s booth at Bluezone. It is made from a patent-pending polymer that adapts “proactively to meet the wearer’s needs” the company said. This results in jeans that are easier to put on and take off, and offers brands and retailers a wider fit window, it further stated.

For brands seeking more sustainable solutions that help reduce waste, The Lycra Company’s portfolio of fibres with recycled content include Lycra EcoMade, which has 20% pre-consumer recycled content, and Coolmax and Thermolite EcoMade which are made from 100% textile waste or recycled PET.
