The denim fabric is made with a traditional cotton warp with machine-washable merino wool in the weft. The resulting four-way stretch fabric possesses the natural thermoregulating properties of wool.
Jeans made in the fabric are ideal for horse riding and city slicking said company founder Emily Riggs who hopes that breathable merino wool will become more commonplace in denims. With her husband, Tom Riggs, the designer runs a 100,000-acre sheep station in Burra South Australia. Through her brand Iris & Wool she seeks to promote the virtues of Australian merino wool through limited, highly wearable collections in the finest yarns available.
