Researchers from the brand’s in-house Athleisure Innovation Lab helped develop the bio-stonewashed fabrics, Andar said, which are 68% cotton and contain moisture wicking Coolmax technologies and Lycra stretch fibres for added functionality. It highlighted how the stretch denim used helps the trousers retain their original slim fit, without stretching out the knee area like "regular jeans", in its marketing material.
The company sold more than 1,000 pairs of the five-pocket jean style within a week of their early February launch, local media reported.
Andar was named ESG Company of the Year in the athleisure category at last year’s Korea Consumer Brand Awards and also debuted its first-ever footwear collection back in September. It often uses Lenzing’s Tencel modal fibres and recycled polyester from post-consumer waste in its activewear collections.
