Jeanologia celebrates World Water Day
In honour of World Water Day, this Wednesday, Jeanologia has once again tallied up the savings of this precious resource that its technologies enable. The company based in Valencia, Spain, said that in the course of 2022, its technologies have contributed to saving 19 million cubic metres of water, roughly the equivalent water used in a year by cities such as Marrakech, Oslo or Managua.

It is, the company said, the responsibility of the textile industry to join its MissionZero to reduce water usage and wastewater discharge from global jeans production. It believes its eco-efficient machines combined can bring water consumption down from 100 litres to a single litre per product.

At the fabric making stage, Jeanologia’s G2 Dynamic and Anubis technologies are said to reduce consumption of water by up to 95%, chemicals by 100%, and energy by 80%, thus leading to a lighter carbon footprint by up to 40% when compared to conventional production processes.

At the finishing stages, its G2 Ozone machine is said to achieve stonewashed and vintage looks without water, chemicals or pumice. Its nanobubble eFlow technology makes it possible to eliminate discharge while using minimal quantities of water. Combined, these technologies help save 80% water and 70% chemicals, the company stated.

When a mill integrates its H2Zero device, it can bring water consumption down to just 1 litre per product. This device, a small water treatment system, connects each washing machine for closed circuit processing.

Carmen Silla, Jeanologia’s marketing director commented: “Sustainability is not a question of marketing, it is an obligation for everyone,” adding that in addition to being a key goal of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) platform, it is also part of the European Union’s future regulatory framework for the textile industry.
