Developed in partnership with global testing and certification organisation SGS, Bluescan relies on a test known as Light Sensitive Fabric (LSF). It consists of applying a laser light on a textile and capturing its reflection and dispersion to analyse how it will react to Jeanologia’s laser finishing processes. The first device is installed in an SGS lab in China.
The partners claim that Bluescan provides ‘extreme’ precision to determine how a fabric reacts to laser technology and different washes. The LSF test is said to provide a manufacturer with a selection of materials best suited to obtain a desired look. It supplies customers with a report that rates different materials to facilitate decision-making.
Garment manufacturers will find in Bluescan a digital library presenting different types of textiles and their reaction to laser processing. This may make it possible to design a collection digitally and sustainably.
The information given by Bluescan “is vital not only for garment finishing technicians, but also for brands and fabric buyers as a factor for purchasing decisions, and for the fabric producers. They will be able to have information on how their products will react to the technologies, as well as supporting sales with fully reliable data on their products,” commented Jeanologia CEO Enrique Silla.
