For brands and retailers looking to monitor and reduce their impacts, the software is linked to Jeanologia’s scoring mechanism, Environmental Impact Measuring (EIM). It is currently used by 100 brands, the company says.
Jeanologia estimates that 15% of clothing produced is never sold, and its services can help shift production models to produce what sells instead of selling what is produced. “The value chain of the textile industry is complex, very disjointed and not very efficient. It takes six to nine months from design and production of a garment to get it to the consumer,” commented Carmen Silla, marketing director.
These digital tools are integrated into Jeanologia’s new ‘Urban Factory’ concept that encompasses all of its garment finishing technologies. The company has stated that it is committed to bringing 15 to 25% of manufacturing back to Europe and North America. Thanks to these new connected services, “the manufacturing of the original garment will stay in the country where these activities usually take place, but the garment finishing will be done close to the consumer,” said Ms Silla.
