Global marketing director for textiles, Simon Whitmarsh-Knight, cited Hyosung’s own Ocean Protection Initiative, which includes regen ocean nylon fibres made from discarded fishing nets and regen ocean polyester from certified ocean-bound plastics, as evidence of the company’s commitment to reducing global plastic pollution.
“With Hyosung and other like-minded companies by our side, we will fight plastic pollution, push government for change, hold brands to account and inspire the next generation to protect the ocean,” commented the charity’s corporate partnerships officer, Tabitha McCormick.
The manufacturer can trace its own marine protection journey back to 2007, when it first began to collect and recycle waste fishing nets. Some of Hyosung's UK-based team members are already set to participate in the Ocean Network-led Million Mile Clean along the nation’s coastlines and waterways, it added.
