BLA hosts live pattern-cutting session, teases new E9 jeans

UK ready-to-wear designer Claudette Joseph set up a workbench at East London “craft” jeanmaker Blackhorse Lane Ateliers (BLA)’s Coal Drops Yard store at the end of July.
Working exclusively with denim off-cuts, Ms Joseph demonstrated her creative pattern-making techniques live, using the brand’s own denim surplus from leftover leg trimmings.
An expert in transformational reconstruction (TR) origami pattern-cutting, Ms Joseph created a one-off, upcycled version of her parker-style Lancer jacket, making use of the fabric’s hickory stripes in the linings to the garment’s pocket gussets and collar pieces.
BLA is due to release its new E9 Modern straight-fit jeans, washed in either light or mid-indigo by the company’s new research and development lab, this coming Friday, August 4.
