Fashion group H&M has described its autumn 2023 collection as combining Baroque with neo-noir, with “opulent silhouettes”, but denim inspired by the late 1990s is a prominent feature too. The collection launches on September 14.

It contrasts the long lines of power suits and leggings with “billowing volume in ruffled hems, oversized tie-necks tops and wide-leg jeans”. Maxi denim skirts are another of the key pieces.

H&M’s concept designer, Elisana Masgalos, said the collection was “a stylish mix of historic references” and a contemporary interpretation of romanticism.
