Korea Textile Design Awards picks 'bloom weave denim'
The jury for this year’s Korea Textile Design Awards, now in its eleventh edition, has awarded Konkuk University student Minhee Noh top prize for her "bloom weave denim".
Ms Noh’s winning fabric was realised through use of painterly techniques to recreate denim-like, woven textures in a layered, expressionistic style, she told local media.
Taking wildflowers as her inspiration, the designer sought to convey a sense of beauty and diversity, resilience and regeneration, and care for nature and personal well-being alike.
Organisers included Korea Fashion Industry Association, the ministry of trade, industry and energy, local producer Daehan and Lenzing's flagship wood-based cellulosic fibre brand Tencel.
