Artistic Milliners ups recycled cotton with Tencel 32MM

Karachi-based mill Artistic Milliners has launched an exclusive collection of denims made from new Tencel fibre 32MM blended with recycled cotton.
The shorter length of the wood-based 32MM fibres mean they are more compatible with cotton, the partners explained, resulting in “an authentic look and better washdowns…with an extraordinary level of softness and an unexpectedly silky hand-feel.”
Although shorter, the fibres also have an increased surface area, allowing them to bind better with recycled material. Artistic Milliners’ own ‘circular park’ processed the cotton. First announced in early 2021, the fibre recycling facility is equipped with precision-controlled machinery from French engineering firm Laroche. “Circularity is part of the central mission for Artistic Milliners, just as it is for Lenzing, but both companies are also passionate about creating beautiful, comfortable products,” commented managing director at the former, Omer Ahmed.
Head of global business development for denim at Tencel maker Lenzing, Tuncay Kiliçkan, described its “continuous research and development activities” alongside the denim manufacturer as conducive to its goals, with potential to “push the target even further”.
