Denim Privé publishes its second sustainability report

22/11/2023
Vertical producer Denim Privé, owned by Karachi-based group Kassim, has released its second-ever sustainability report, covering the 12 months of 2022.

The document shows how water consumption per piece dropped by 17% last year compared to 2019, whereas the percentage of treated wastewater successfully discharged versus the total wastewater produced was 94.4%. This is in contrast to the 86.2% baseline from three year’s prior.

Meanwhile, 83% of cotton purchased for denims was grown in line with Better Cotton standards in 2022. The company’s goal is to take this to 100% of volumes by year’s end.

Another highlight was becoming Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) compliant, Denim Privé said. Its target is to reach 20% screened chemistry by the close of 2023.
