Ereks ‘eliminated’ pumice in last four months of 2023
Denim manufacturer Ereks-Blue Matters has rounded up its “impact and transformation” highlights from 2023.
The producer, which aims “to become a circular company by 2030”, notably listed the “complete elimination” of pumice stones in its denim production from September through December as “a monumental achievement”.
Stone usage was down to around 15% for the year as a whole, the Turkey-based supplier shared.
Other highlights included the launch of its Rematters-Textile Recycling Solutions subsidiary, led by Romain Narcy, during the autumn. Not to mention the introduction of a new, digital-first bespoke manufacturing project, expected to yield 40,000 made-to-measure denim and non-denim pieces annually, plus laying the foundations for the installation of a solar wall later in the year and organising the first in-person Transformers ED event in Turkey, alongside Sustainability Talks Istanbul.
Reflecting on the previous 12 months, Ereks said it was “gearing up for an even more impactful” year ahead.
