The vertically integrated, multi-category production unit spans 232 acres (94 hectares) and will increase the supplier’s annual knitwear capacity, in particular, by a further 25 million pieces, with a daily knitting and dyeing output of 50 tonnes. After completing phase two of development, this is expected to rise by a further 12 million pieces per year, Interloop added.
Chief executive, Navid Fazil, commented: “We’re setting new standards, harnessing innovative technologies and relentlessly pursuing process improvement.
“Through our LEED-certified infrastructure, a self-reliant green energy grid and transition to biomass fuel, we are committed to increasing Interloop’s sustainability impact on an unprecedented scale.”
Projected benefits include an on-site water recycling plant, with plans to boost capacity to 60% by 2024; a solar farm designed to take firm-wide photovoltaic power generation to 25 megawatts; and a day care centre for up to 150 children. The manufacturer, a major hosiery producer, also specialises in denim and activewear.
Interloop Apparel Park is the Faisalabad-based supplier's fifth hosiery factory.
