AFM reaps first regenerative cotton harvest

A growing community in Barkhan, Balochistan, affiliated with Karachi-based denim producer Artistic Fabric Mills (AFM) has celebrated its first-ever regenerative cotton harvest.

The intention behind the project is to “support sustainable farming practices and community development while supporting Pakistan’s textile industry,” the business said. AFM hosted a special event alongside cotton farmers, pickers, ginners and representatives from both World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and its own field teams to share learnings so far, plus illustrate the full cotton field-to-finished denims lifecycle.

Later, the mill’s responsibly minded AFM Cares division undertook an educational field visit to engage “future heroes” from a local school, encouraging them to take an active interest in biodiversity. The session concluded with a tree-planting drive and the distribution of what AFM-made denim bags jean jackets.
