Intertextile Apparel forecasts an 'eclectic' SS25

Biannual trade fair Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics (Intertextile Apparel) has shared its spring-summer 2025 curation of trend-led fabrics, colours and concepts ahead of its upcoming spring edition, which will take place in the Chinese megacity between March 6 and 8.

The event, coordinated by the Messe Frankfurt team in Hong Kong, will once again be staged inside the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

Fabric samples will be “brought to life” in a Trend Forum display, specially designed by Manhattan-based consultancy and Intertextile ‘Directions’ trends committee member Doneger Tobe (hall 5.1). Elementi Moda from Milan, Tokyo’s Sachiko Inoue and Parisian agency NellyRodi round out the forecasting group.

This season’s overarching theme is Turbulence, in a nod to the “eclectic mix of self-indulgence and self-expression" that, in their view, characterises contemporary culture and its trends, in all their richness and idiosyncrasies.

Within this, distinct trends Grace (eg, the idea of “quiet luxury” and unprocessed materials), Immersive (“for a daily functional experience; to dress not to impress”), Switch (“surrealistic experimentation”) and Voices (“improvisation exposes our individuality; an ode to Earth”) each have their own colour palettes, textures and storytelling.

International exhibitors’ booths, also found in hall 5.1, will variously be clustered in dedicated areas such as SalonEurope, Functional Lab, All About Sustainability, Premium Wool Zone and Verve for Design. The show’s Beyond Denim and Accessories Vision areas, located in halls 7.1 and 1.2 respectively, will play host to both domestic and overseas suppliers. Specialist womenswear manufacturers will likewise call halls 6.2 and 7.2 home.
