Egypt greenlights new denim factory
Sirikcioglu, a denim manufacturer based in Turkey, has obtained approval from Egypt’s government to build a factory in Port Said. This represents an estimated investment of $700 million, according to a social media post by Egypt’s Trade Ministry, on the official’s recent trip to Istanbul.

Sirikcioglu is a diversified company operating in textiles, energy, construction and agriculture. It operates 22 factories in Turkey, and three abroad. Spinning, dyeing and weaving are its main activities. The group says it produces 300 tonnes of yarn daily and 10 million metres of fabric (denim and non-denim) monthly.

Engineer Ahmed Samir, the Minister of Trade and Industry, met with Sirikcioglu chairman Atef Sirikci as well as with the CEO of Yeshin Group, Selim Sankaya. This garment manufacturer already operates four factories in Egypt and has plans to expand its production capacity in the country.
