Unravelling DNM Denim’s chrysalis project

Inspired by the chrysalis phase in the natural world, wherein the caterpillar becomes a butterfly, denim producer DNM Denim (headquartered in Turkey, with a factory in Egypt) is reportedly undergoing a transformative period of its own, which it is calling the “chrysalis project”.
The project aims to pursue innovation and new technologies to “improve [DNM’s] technical excellence” and “support sustainability”.
DNM’s chrysalis has four threads: Shaped’N Relaxed, Iconic Touch, Tokio Spirit and Comformance.
Shaped’N Relaxed, made in collaboration with The Lycra Company, represents DNM’s “narrow and deep” focus on “lasting comfort, fit and shape”, the mill said, while the Iconic Touch concept is motivated by both softness and sustainability to produce “special fabrics” using Tencel (a wood-based cellulosic fibre) and EcoVero (a wood pulp-derived viscose with 50% lower emissions and water impact), among others.
Tokio Spirit uses cottonised hemp fibre to combine vintage patterns with “modern touches” and Comformance offers a “unique solution” for “environmentally-conscious fashion enthusiasts”.
DNM Denim “aims to be the leader of sustainable fashion production in the denim fabric industry by investing and using technology in the most innovative of ways,” it said in a press release.
