US sewn products industry association SEAMS has announced that Peter Roberts, the founder and chief executive of denim brand Origin, will be one of the speakers at its annual networking conference. The event takes place in Mobile, Alabama, from September 11-13.

Just over a decade ago, from a standing start, Mr Roberts launched Origin after remortgaging his home and building his own timber-framed factory in Maine.

He has grown origin into a brand that now has annual sales revenue of more than $200 million.

He recently resurrected a 15,000 square-metre denim factory in North Carolina and has said he will use it to manufacture 1 million pairs of Origin jeans, made from US denim fabric, per year.
