Recover and Lenzing behind Estonia’s recycled uniforms

Team Estonia’s Paris 2024 uniforms were made from 100% recycled materials, including recycled cotton from Spain’s Recover.
Designed by Estonian designer Reet Aus, in partnership with the Estonian Olympic Committee (EOK), the uniforms were said to “underscore the team's dedication to advancing the circular economy within the textile industry”.
Each piece in the denim collection includes 50% Recover recycled cotton from post-industrial waste blended with 50% Refibra. Lenzing’s Refibra technology involves upcycling cotton scraps from garment production and transforming them into cotton pulp. The cotton pulp is then added to wood pulp to produce Tencel lyocell fibres.
It features pieces for men and women, including t-shirts, denim jeans, denim shorts, jackets, a long skirt and a tote bag.
Each product in the collection comes with a Digital Product Passport through a QR code, providing transparency of the lifecycle of the garment, including information on the manufacturing process, environmental impact, and guidance on repair, reuse, upcycling and recycling.
Urmas Sõõrumaa, president of the Estonian Olympic Committee, said: "We are proud to support our athletes with uniforms that align with our values of sustainability and innovation.”
