Calik, Lycra and Lenzing address UN meeting

                        Turkish mill Calik Denim, Austrian fibre company Lenzing, The Lycra Company, recycled cotton yarn producer Recover and US Cotton Protocol joined representatives from the fashion sector in addressing more than 300 advisory committee members, industry stakeholders, leaders, media representatives and UN officials.
Rukiye Kuzu, a marketing executive at Calik Denim, spoke of the mill’s progress offering recycled cotton fabrics, cotton from regenerative agriculture, and its B210 biodegradable denim fabric that the Turkish mill introduced in 2022.
Lycra’s sustainability director Jean Hegedus explained the company’s push into bio derived elastane, working with Qore and corn farmers in the US to create a product that is 70% bio derived.
Lenzing spoke of its work with geothermal textiles, including a pilot to insulate a glacier with a non-woven material.
