Closed-loop water-saving system for garment finishing
Life Anhidra, a research project to develop a system to reduce water discharge in textile finishing processes funded by the European Commission, has been finalised. The project was coordinated by Jeanologia, the maker of the machinery, with Spanish research centre AITEX and Portuguese manufacturer Pizarro.

The device was officially presented at Pizarro’s factory in Guimarães, Portugal, yesterday.
It is said to combine several technologies, mechanical and ultrafiltration solutions, along with ozone, which should make it possible to reuse water in industrial washing machines for periods of up to 60 operation days.

Project leads expect that Anhidra machines will be installed in 30 to 40 industrial facilities over the next three years, and to have some 100 systems operating globally by 2029.

The closed-loop system leads to a reduction of wastewater generation by 98%, and water consumption by 92%, it is also said to lead to up to 15% reduced energy usage.
