The chief executive of the North American business of beauty and personal care retail group Sephora, Artemis Patrick, is to become a member of the board of Levi Strauss & Co.

Ms Patrick said that she had grown up in San Francisco, home of Levi’s, and that she had had been a fan of the denim brand since her teenage years.

She said that Levi’s was “evolving into a true lifestyle apparel brand”.

Her appointment will be effective from February 1.
