Expansion for Levi’s and Gap-backed volunteer programme

The San Francisco-based Downtown Volunteer Coalition (DVC) has expanded, adding companies Crusoe, FleishmanHillard, the Golden State Warriors, Google and the San Francisco Giants to the initiative.

Originally founded by LS&Co and Gap, as well as financial companies JPMorgan Chase, Visa and Wells Fargo, the DVC drives corporate volunteerism and engagement to support revitalisation in the US city.

The companies have partnered community-based organisations to engage over 450 employees in more than 1,000 volunteer hours. Sixteen projects have been completed, including refreshing and restoring community spaces, revitalising parks and playgrounds and engaging in street clean-up activities.

Alexis Bechtol, director of Community Affairs at LS&Co, said: “San Francisco is our home, and by partnering with like-minded companies and nonprofits, mobilising employees for volunteering and expanding on other revitalisation efforts such as the recently launched mural project, we can make a real difference in the city that has given us so much for more than 170 years.”
