DyStar prepares to refresh sustainability targets

Chemicals group DyStar has published its 2024-2025 Annual Integrated Sustainability Report, which highlights progress in environmental responsibility “despite the challenges posed by the optimisation of manufacturing facilities and increased production volumes driven by rising demand”.

During the year, its Scope 1 and 2 emissions were 67% lower than a 2011 baseline.

Site-level initiatives reduced wastewater production intensity by 58%, and energy intensity dropped 3%, driven by increased use of renewable energy and energy-saving initiatives.

Additionally, 45% of packaging materials were recycled.

The group also donated $180,000 to community initiatives.

Xu Yalin, president of DyStar Group, said: “We recognise that long-term value creation demands both strategic agility and a deep commitment to our environmental and social responsibilities. With this in mind, we have refreshed our 2030 sustainability goals to reflect evolving stakeholder expectations and the urgent need to accelerate our sustainability progress. As we embark on another year of both opportunity and challenge, I extend my sincere gratitude to all our stakeholders for your continued trust and partnerships.”

This year, DyStar closed US facilities in North Carolina and Ohio with integration of some production into its Reidsville, North Carolina, site.

At the start of June, it announced Zhejiang Longsheng Group had become the owner of the group.
