Asutex’s new waterless enzyme improves worker safety

Spain-based chemicals company Asutex has updated its waterless enzyme system to make it safer for workers while still delivering “aggressive looks without compromising fabric strength”.

The company launched its first waterless enzyme, ASUCEL WF, in 2020 in response to clients’ requests to move away from pumice stones and searching for alternatives to high concentrations of enzymes that could affects the fabrics.

Alessandra Holzer, sales technician at Asutex, said: “We explored working with no water in the machine, relying only on the moisture absorbed by the garments. Drawing on our expertise, we knew how to balance the enzyme effectively to achieve consistent and impactful results. This opened a whole new world.”

The result, ASUCEL WF,  does not penetrate the fabric, sitting on the surface means it enhances the bio-polish effect and removing the water enhances the mechanical action.

The latest product, ASUCEL G STONE, offers improved worker safety thanks to its granular format, which minimises exposure and makes handling safer for operators, said Ms Holzer. Additionally, the incorporation of abrasives and anti-back staining agents enhances performance.

She added: “When used combined with ASUPREND Eco Bleach, our sodium hypochlorite or potassium permanganate replacement, it creates a powerful denim finishing process capable of producing acid wash type corrosion effects. This combination allows for strong visual results without the use of pumice stones or harsh oxidizing agents. It is also suitable for delicate items and garments containing elastane.”
