09/12/2025
Sustainability Talks Istanbul, co-organised by Orbit Consulting and Kipas Textiles, with support from the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association (ITHIB), opens today at the Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus Conference Centre.

The dense programme alternates keynotes and panel talks. Keynote speakers include Lacoste’s head of CSR, Raynald Anquet, bluesign’s head of sales, Barbara Oswald, and Emir Koçak, head of sales and strategy for Else Bornewa, a spinner specialising in recycled fibres. A spotlight session at the end of the day features Romain Narcy, of Rematters and Ereks Blue Matters, with Calvin Woolley, Ikea’s sustainable business manager.

Many leading industry figures are participating in the panel talks. The first one this morning specifically looks into how CEOs are leading the drive towards a more sustainable industry with Halit Gümüser, head of Kipas, Mavi CEO Cüneyt Yavuz, EURATEX Director General Dirk Vantyghem, Javier Bernal, founder and CEO of Ivy Decarb Marketplace, and Aster Textile’s head of marketing & innovation Ali Kocali.

A second panel talk discusses transparency and traceability with representatives from Armedangels, Control Union, Eurofins and Textile Genesis. It is followed by a session dedicated to closing the loop, with representatives from Unifi, Circulose, Re&Up, the recycling division of Sanko Group, and Kipas Textiles. Decarbonisation is the topic of a fourth panel talk, with representatives from Archroma, Kering, Korteks, Livinguard and Birla Cellulose.

Kipas is officially launching today its new recycling platform Kipas FibR-e. It covers different technologies, including mechanical recycling for cotton waste, and chemical (via a glycolysis process) or thermo-mechanical recycling for polyester blends.

Two field trips to the recycling facilities are being organised, a visit to the Meltem Kimya site on December 10 and to the Kipas facility on December 11.
