Säntis and Kipas hope for increased circularity
Swiss company Säntis Textile and Turkish denim group Kipas Textile have spoken of the need to increase recycled options and recycled content as part of the Textile Exchange’s conference programme in Dublin.
The companies said: “If change is to happen, it must start with production processes and fostering a collective mindset unified in reaching one goal. This can be achieved in many ways, none more important than vastly increasing the amount of textile waste that is reused.”RCO100, Säntis’ 100% recycled cotton, was launched in 2016. It uses no bleach or chemicals and brand partners include Tommy Jeans.
“However, nothing will give us greater pride than to see that number increase, as brands begin to harness the power of circularity.”
Annabelle Hutter, Säntis’ creative director, was recognised as a Rising Star by the Textile Exchange for her work with brands regarding the RCO100 recycled cotton, and her own ‘Born on Saturday’ brand of hand-made recycled cotton tote bags and t-shirts, created to educate people in Southeast Asia about circularity in the fashion industry.
