New BodyCast concept offers genuine lived-in depth
Turkey-based premium denim and jeans manufacturer Rimaks has teamed up with Pakistan’s SM Denim to develop a new finishing approach that mimics authentically worn fadings. The BodyCast concept was developed by Rimaks and is being launched with SM Denim using fabrics from its Icons collection.

BodyCast combines a resin-based finish with life-like mannequins shaped like a human lower body. This allows the application of whiskers, thigh rolls, pocket bite and honeycombs to take on a more natural aspect, the companies said. It avoids aggressive abrasion or artificial distressing, while creating three-dimensional wear mapping that looks genuinely authentic.

Resin is applied while garments are mounted on a human-anatomy mannequin, setting natural crease geography at the thigh, knee and seat. “We cast denim on the body,” commented Meir Barbut, Board Member at Rimaks. “BodyCast allows us to recreate the way denim truly wears—naturally, honestly, and with depth—while giving brands full control over the final expression.”

SM Denim will be presenting the new BodyCast by Rimaks concept both at Denim & Jeans Egypt (January 19 & 20, 2026) and Kingpins New York (January 21 & 22, 2026).
