The capsule collection calls on Nova, a new platform created by Rimaks and based on four categories of finishing solutions offering premium fading and aging effects. These have been engineered specifically for denim fabrics made by DNM Denim from Egyptian Giza cotton. They eliminate the need for potassium permanganate and harsh bleaching agents by using alternative techniques such as lasering, ozone and eco-stones among other cleaner solutions while achieving the requisite high-contrast indigo aesthetics.
When combined, they can drastically reduce the environmental impact of a pair of jeans. Some of the items presented in the capsule collection had EIM scores (Jeanologia’s scoring system) in the low twenties.
Environmental and social issues are very important to Rimaks, Ebru Debbag told Inside Denim. A manufacturer of premium jeans, Rimaks has been working with Scandinavian brands for three decades and is now looking to develop sales in North America. Its production capacity is 3.5 million units per year. “We are looking to expand globally,” said Meir Barbut, who is board member and sales and marketing manager. “The sustainable solutions we have developed can help brands radically lower their environmental footprint,” he added.
