Bluezone ahead
Munich Fabric Start will be opening its doors from January 27 to 29, with all events held under one roof at the MOC, and some 1,000 exhibitors expected. Bluezone will be located in hall 2 alongside the Keyhouse and Sustainable Innovations sections.
Denim mills that will be present include Berto, Bossa, Calik, Isko, Orta, Sharabati, Tejidos Royo and Troficolor Denim Makers.
The denim area will also showcase a new edition of Homegrown Denim Legends, spotlighting little known yet nonetheless iconic brands. Angels is one of the two labels on show. The 80s-era brand, founded by the Fleckenstein family, since under new ownership, has gained new aura and market penetration b y investing in sustainable practices.
D.A.CH Rocker Jeans by the Swiss jeans museum is the second highlight that will present a selection of Ruedi Karrer’s extensive Swiss and German collector jeans from the 1970s to 2009. The focus this session is that they were all worn by bona fide rock musicians, and their story is described on each piece.
An extensive programme of talks and trend presentations is also scheduled and will be posted online a few days before the show opens. Expect a trend presentation by Inside Denim collaborator Tilmann Wröbel. His presentation will delve into the industry’s opportunities and challenges. The main topic, he told Inside Denim, is titled “The Perfect Time for Denim Imperfection”. He explores how perceptions of reality by Gen Z, and beyond, are shifting, how imperfection conveys values that are prized in new ways and how this pivot resonates well with the world of denim. He will also focus on the creative and sustainable potential of digitally printed jeans. A final chapter is dedicated to the “thrill of search” and why retailers need to rethink their strategy to capture consumer attention in a highly competitive market.
The main theme of the entire event for Spring/Summer 2027 is Pleasure, a mood chosen to emphasise the shift away from pragmatism and neutrality. Denim trends will be integrated into the main fashion trend forum in the foyer. This is a reflection of the growing importance of denim in the broader fashion landscape, the organisers said.
