ADM and Recover ink strategic eco partnership

Vertically integrated, Karachi-based denim manufacturer Artistic Denim Mills (ADM) and Recover, a producer of “low impact” recycled cotton fibre and blends located in the Spanish municipality of Banyeres de Mariola, recently partnered on a multi-year, sustainability-minded initiative.

The exclusive alliance will see both parties (who have been collaborating since 2020) implement an “act as one” philosophy to develop new denim blends using Recover’s Global Recycled Standard (GRS)-certified fibre.

According to the Higg MSI, Recover recycled cotton fibre outperforms virgin equivalent fibres, conventional cotton and organic cotton across all five impact categories: global warming potential, nutrient pollution in water, water scarcity, fossil fuel depletion and chemistry.

The company’s recycled cotton is currently trusted by a wide variety of brands, including Tommy Hilfiger, G-Star Raw, Kontoor Brands (the home of denim brands Lee and Wrangler) and Diesel.

Recover’s existing RDenim offering, made from unblended recycled cotton fibre, saves 1.326 billion litres of water and 2 million kilograms of carbon dioxide per million units.

The two companies will together offer brands their co-created circular denim in finished garments with the added option for design development provided by ADM.

Next steps reportedly involve Recover installing its fibre production equipment within ADM’s new facilities in Pakistan, which will have capacity to make 100,000 kilograms of yarn each day.
