Growth-minded culture makes Kontoor CEO optimistic
The CEO of Kontoor Brands has said a solid financial performance in 2021 shows its strategies are working as the Wrangler and Lee owner reported a “high single digits” revenue increase to $2.7 billion for the year ended January 1, 2022.

Scott Baxter (pictured) said investments in digital, ESG (environmental social governance) and “demand creation platforms” helped secure the growth.

US revenue was $1.9 billion for the year, a 14% increase; international revenue was $607 million, a 33% increase; and Chinese sales grew 37%.

Wrangler global revenue was $.6 billion - 17% higher than in 2021 - while Lee global revenue rose 29% to $887 million.

Mr Baxter said: “In the fourth quarter, we amplified strategic investments and delivered near-term results while continuing to set the foundation for greater long-term success. This execution was also a testament to our colleagues around the world, whose perseverance, collaboration and focus led our organisation to new operational heights despite the ongoing dynamic macroenvironment.

“As we look to the future, I’m optimistic that our growth-minded culture, as well as accelerating fundamentals and cash flow optionality, create a powerful combination for all of Kontoor’s stakeholders.”
