Garmon’s application lab joins Jeans Redesign
Chemicals group Kemin has announced that the application laboratory of its denim-focused textile auxiliaries business unit, Garmon Studio, has joined the Ellen McArthur Foundation’s Jeans Redesign project.
San Marino-based Garmon Studio joins 94 other garment manufacturers, fabric mills, retailers and brands on the project, which aims to increase the garment industry’s commitment to sustainable chemicals.
Launched in 2019, Jeans Redesign provides a framework to scale up circular practices in the denim industry, encouraging leading brands, mills, and garment manufacturers “to transform the way jeans are made”.
Developments so far have included the acceptance among 95% of brands and garment manufacturers of an end to the use of potassium permanganate, stone finishing and sand blasting.
