Garmon presents ‘softening' paper and boosts Smart Foam capabilities
Garmon Chemicals, the denim-focused arm of Kemin, has developed a way to add softener to the garment-drying stage using paper as the medium.

One square metre of Soft&Dry paper can be added to the machine to work on 22kg of garments, meaning the softening and drying can be done in one step.

Benefits include the fact that the paper is compostable, it eliminates the risk of colour migration, and it is easier to ship and transport, Davide Vagnetti, creative director at Garmon, told Inside Denim.

The company has also updated its Smart Foam technology, creating a new machine that is smaller, made of plastic, and that can offer both nebulisation and foam effects. It can be added to the side of existing machinery, imputing the EasyFoam solution through a tube.

“These machines can be placed in the laundry and attached to different machines with tubes, saving both water and energy,” explained Mr Vagnetti. “Even the dyeing can be done at room temperature.”

Garmon has also introduced a range of coatings that impart leather-like looks or shiny effects, that can be applied without a dryer.
