Garmon’s power-saving solutions
At the Kingpins show in Amsterdam, Garmon Chemicals presented a suite of Power Saving solutions that can help mills increase the efficiency of their processes, reduce energy, water and time and thus counter the escalating costs of energy, water and transportation.
The Kemin-owned company’s new Power Saving platform integrates its many innovative technologies and combines them as needed. “Power Saving is a combination of solutions that work together. They are all designed to help laundries save resources, which today means saving costs,” says Francesco Romiti, marketing manager.
Garmon’s chemicals can often be used at room temperature, he says, which delivers significant energy savings. The company’s Smart Foam is a major source of water savings as it is believed to reduce water usage by 80%. “Smart Foam is a combination of chemistry and equipment, the process is conducted at room temperature, and it is faster than nebulisation,” says Mr Romiti. The company has recently improved upon its Smart Foam solutions as these can now be used to dye fabrics in plain colours.
Improving efficiency is another key aspect of the all-encompassing platform. Garmon’s Power Saving solutions include catalysts that boost the action of other chemicals or equipment. In tests it has conducted, Garmon has found that its smart solutions can reduce equipment's power consumption by 25% and speed up processing by 30%. The company has calculated these savings in tests it has carried out based on common washes and dyeing. It believes the results could be even higher in industrial conditions.
