Authenticity and innovation at Çalik Denim
Turkey-based denim mill Çalik Denim presented its new developments for Spring-Summer 2023 at Première Vision Paris this week.

Under the BlueVASION heading, the new products feature many innovative technologies developed by the company.

Powerstretch E-Last denims are given a special treatment that stabilises weft shrinkage values to the standard of rigid denims (0/-3.5%). “This will make it easier for laundries to control shrinkage,” says Çigdem Kaçar, product marketing manager for Çalik Denim. It also addresses possible puckering on torn and ripped effects, she adds.

E-Denim features the company’s patent-pending spinning technology that is engineered for circular and ecodesign solutions. In this hybrid yarn, recycled cotton fibres are only present in the core. Once woven into fabric, they will not alter the denim aesthetics and will have a premium look. “This technology enables us to increase the proportion of recycled cotton in a yarn,” Ms Kaçar tells Inside Denim. The recycled cotton can be spun with Tencel or recycled polyester, making it “green to the core”, which is the concept’s catchphrase.

Denims in the Blue H range are made from 20% cottonised hemp. “Hemp remains in high demand from companies looking to develop more sustainable products,” says Ms Kaçar.

Finally, in a move to offer greater freedom of design solutions for brands, Çalik Denim’s D’enovated denims come in various types of washes. These will not need to be laundered or can achieve high impact finishes with lighter washing processes. Ultimately saving chemicals, energy and water.
