Orta’s iconic 5616 elevated to ‘custodian’

“When you look at a pair of finished jeans in a retail store, you forget how much skill, expertise and energy goes into making a garment,” reads a company statement. “For a certain amount of time, we become part of the journey of a garment and as a result we become ‘custodians’ of a masterpiece in the making,” it continues.
The range, on display at the company’s booth at Kingpins NY this week, is designed to celebrate the generations of denim masters involved in creating, evolving and perfecting the 5616 through the years. Visitors to the booth could chose among a series of embroidered messages from “Perfection in Progress” to “You’re never fully dressed without a smile” to pin on their own clothes.
