Circulose makes its runway debut

Celebrity-favourite fashion designer Jade Cropper marked a runway first for fellow Swedish firm Renewcell’s Circulose by showing denim and ready-to-wear articles which incorporate the fibre during Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW)’s spring-summer 2023 edition in early August.

Circulose, a regenerated fibre made from cotton-rich textile waste, such as that which can be retrieved from discarded jeans, notably announced a five-season partnership with CPHFW this past June.

The garments form part of Jade Cropper's Future Vintage collection, which was largely dominated by figure-hugging, yet exaggerated silhouettes that danced between revealing and concealing the body.

In a social media statement, Renewcell’s chief growth officer, Harald Cavalli-Björkman, thanked the Stockholm-based, Swedish-made brand for “making Circulose’s fashion week runway debut so special” and “showing the world the possibilities of our slurry”. He further reemphasised the company's support of CPHFW, which he described as a leader among fashion weeks in its push for "sustainable", industry-wide change.

In related news, Spanish retailer Zara released a capsule composed of Circulose-blended knits via its e-commerce platform on August 4. Toby Lawton was appointed chief financial officer at Renewcell a month prior, a position which he will take up on October 1.
