Kilim Denim’s 'rainbow' fading
Kilim Denim has developed a special finishing technique, Kilim Rainbow, which creates the effect of an overdye or coating, without adding the additional step in the dyeing process and thus keeping costs down. It is available in an array of casts and gives the fabric a hand feel similar to a coating. “The denim item appears to be overdyed, but it is not, it is our proprietary technology that is truly unique,” sales chief Isil Sena Candan told Inside Denim. It is a relatively simple solution that provides novelty and authenticity.

Following a similar line of thinking, the Turkey-based company presented a new jade blue indigo in its palette, which is made from the actual stone, it said. A detail that could inspire novel story telling.

Another new product on show at Kilim’s booth at Bluezone was a stretch denim fabric made from Eastman’s Naia yarn (12%). “We had previously integrated this fibre in a rigid denim, this is the first stretch reference with Naia,” said Ms Candan. The wood-based acetate yarn gives the fabric a special sheen and a soft hand feel.
