Kilim Denim’s eco-processes & jacquards on show
Currently exhibiting at Bluezone, Kilim Denim is featuring its eco-processes that help reduce water usage and chemicals, specifically caustic soda. The Turkey-based company’s Cactus dyeing process uses a different chemistry which makes it possible to cut water consumption by 91% and chemicals by 87%, the company said, and these numbers are backed by Intertek.

Eco-flat is an alternative to traditional mercerising processes but does not use any caustic soda. “It achieves the same look and feel, but is much safer,” Isil Candan, Kilim Denim sales manager told Inside Denim.

The company has expanded its jacquard fabric offering to include stretch fabric references and a wider range of weights, she said. The mill also sees the current military and workwear trends in casualwear as positive, as the group has a division that specialises in performance ‘tactical’ fabrics.
