The first samples feature a series of chequered motifs and knit look textures, but all types of patterns are possible, including weaving a company’s logo or name directly into the fabric or the selvedge, Isil Sena Candan, Kilim Denim’s head of sales, tells Inside Denim. “These are just the first examples we have made since the new machines began operations a month ago,” she says.
The company prides itself on the quality of the fabrics it makes and the numerous customisation options it offers its customers. For brands looking for more colourful faded effects, the company can print motifs on the back of a denim fabric. These will create subtle colour accents on the outside after laundering and finishing.
Marble effect washes are a big trend currently, says Ms Candan, and can be developed in indigo or jet grey.
To address growing demand for more sustainable fabrics, Kilim Denim has an array of fabrics blending cotton with hemp and Tencel, for softness.
Another highlight of the denim manufacturer’s new collection is a herringbone weave denim with a striking geometric texture.
Selvedge denims are also on display, in 13 oz and in 81 cm widths. “We are one of the few companies to have these types of references in stock,” she adds.
