Tonello’s tech-forward take on laundry design
This month’s Amsterdam edition of denim trade show Kingpins will showcase the latest systems built by Italian technology provider Tonello as part of its Laundry (R)Evolution concept, created to facilitate more efficient, transparent and traceable finishing.

The event will take place between October 19 and 20. Tonello’s booth (#07) will be located on the ground floor of the venue, SugarCity, inside the green area.

Notably, the company’s new, website-enabled Configurator tool is one of three digital features which, taken together, support greater visibility of laundry-level productivity and consumption metrics “for brands that want to demonstrate their commitment to true sustainability”. The tool allows users to effectively assemble bespoke laundry “solutions” by piecing together various Tonello-made software, technologies and components, before comparing the cost, energy usage and resource consumption of different configurations.

This technology is complemented by the firm’s BOP (Be On Point) “one-touch” garment positioning system, which works especially well with its THE Laser platform for jeans and can be used to enhance laser accuracy for up to eight garments at a time, Tonello said.

Thirdly, the group’s Metro software also forms an important part of its presentation. Metro provides laundries with the means to centralise, measure and manage their consumption across machines, garments and processes. It then uses this data to generate an “environmental passport” unique to each item of clothing.

A selection of apparel washed and dyed with Tonello’s Evolution 3 machines, using the BOP and Metro systems, will also be on display at the booth. A Piero Turk-designed, PVH Europe-tailored and Tonello-treated Most Sustainable Product (MSP) collection of denims will additionally be viewable on the first floor, in the red area.
