Canopy celebrates responsible viscose milestone
26/10/2022
CanopyStyle works to ensure no wood from ancient or endangered forests anywhere in the world is used in the production of viscose fibres. In joining hands, signatories also commit to investing in the design and use of tree-free alternatives, such as lower impact regenerated textile fibres, the organisation said.
Among the latest to sign up are Everlane, John Lewis & Partners, Wax London, Grain de Malice, BAM and BN3TH. They join existing members PVH Corp, Stella McCartney, Kering, H&M, Zara, Walmart and more.
Already, the CanopyStyle collective has helped shift "almost half of viscose production out of sourcing from endangered forests, secured conservation gains and spurred production of low-carbon, next-generation textiles", according to Canopy’s executive director, Nicole Rycroft.
